Gun Owner Defense Stories

While no one ever wants to have to draw their weapon and even more so kill another person average citizens defend themselves, and others, on a daily basis. We do not post these stories to glorify them, far from it. Taking another humans life is a horrible thing that no one wants to experience. But since these type of stories are often overlooked by main stream media and anti-gun groups constantly tell us guns don't save lives we feel the need to keep the public aware that average gun owners are saving lives each and every day.

Tuscaloosa Man Hold Home Invaded At Gun Point Until Police Arive - April 13, 2014

The suspect demanded the man and his wife give him their valuables. The homeowner got into a struggle with him while his wife ran to a neighbors house and called police.

The homeowner told officers he then attempted to get away from the home invader by running into the house. The man forced his way into the house before the homeowner could secure the door.

Once inside the intruder continued to demand the homeowner's valuables, but left without taking anything. The homeowner retrieved his handgun and chased down the intruder, holding him at gunpoint until police arrived.

Detroit Homeowner Opens Fire On Two Home Invaders - April 9, 2014

Detroit police Sgt. Michael Woody says the two 19-year-old suspects, a male and a female, broke into the home on the 19000 block of Asbury Park just before 6 a.m. Woody says the 47-year-old homeowner fired several shots with a rifle, striking both suspects after they broke a window and tried to get in.

The male was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead, Woody says. The female suspect was struck in the leg, transported and listed in critical condition.

Williamsport Pa Man Justified In 2013 Shooting - April 7, 2014

The district attorney in Lycoming County now says a homeowner was justified when he shot and killed another man last year.

Florida Family Shoots And Kills Burglar - April 7, 2014

A family in Winter Haven shot and killed a burglary suspect, according to the Winter Haven Police report.

Officers responded to the burglary call around 6:50 a.m. Monday. When they arrived to 4219 Lake Marianna Drive they found the burglary suspect, identified as 40-year-old Mitchell Large, dead in the residence.

Alabama Woman Stops Armed Home Invasion, Kills One - April 4, 2014

According to Autauga County Chief Deputy Joe Sedinger, Smith was armed with a knife when he tried to break into the home on County Road 81. Sedinger said the female homeowner feared for her safety, and for that of her niece, when she fired several shots at the intruder.

"He knocked on the door and tried to gain entrance by saying he needed help that he was broke down," Sedinger explained. "When she came to the door, he pushed the door open. She said when he came in her house with the knife, she shot him."

Intruder Fatally Shot By Homeowner In Montana - March 17, 2014

Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman says a Missoula man was shot and killed early Monday morning as he was attempting to burglarizing a home northwest of Corvallis.

Hoffman says that the resident was awakened by noises around his home shortly before 4 a.m., and when he went to investigate, he found the subject climbing through a window he had just broken.

Home Invasion / Robbery Stopped By Armed Homeowner - February 28, 2014

The investigation revealed that two male residents were watching television when two unknown subject knocked on the door.

One of the residents looked through a window and saw two subjects, one of whom was wearing a ski mask. The two residents retreated to a back bedroom. The two suspects reportedly 'kicked open' the front door and entered the living room and fired two shots from a handgun at the residents. One of the residents returned one shot from a handgun towards the suspects. The suspects fled the area on foot running west bound on Stubbs Ave. No one was injured during the incident.

Homeowner Stops Burglary With Gun - February 26, 2014

A Monroe man is in jail on burglary charges after investigators say a homeowner with a gun in hand caught the suspect in the act.

Union County Sheriff's deputies arrested Jesse Keith Tuesday morning in a Unionville neighborhood after they said one of the victims called 911 after spotting Keith rifling through his car in a detached garage.

Detroit Homeowner Shoots & Kills Armed Intruder - February 22, 2014

A Detroit woman surprises an armed robbery suspect in her home. He pointed a gun at her head, but the woman was armed. Bullets started flying and the suspected ended up dead.

Mail Shoots / Kills Dog That Was Attacking Woman - February 22, 2014

Cincinnati police officers said the victim was attacked by the dog after it broke free from its chain in a backyard.

A mail carrier tried to get the dog off as it began biting the victim, officers said.

According to investigators, as the mail carrier was struggling to get the dog off the woman, another man, who was walking down the street at the time, pulled out a gun and shot and killed the dog.

Burglar Shot In Groin By Homeowner - February 19, 2014

Officers charged David R. Miles Jr, 30, of Dyersburg, with aggravated burglary after he was found by officers with a single gunshot wound to his groin on Hull Street. Police said Miles was shot by a resident of the apartment complex while he was allegedly breaking in through their window.

Officers said their investigation revealed that Miles had pending domestic assault charges on his record. Investigators said he had a previous relationship with one of the occupants that was living in the apartment complex.

Robber Fatally Shot By Store Clerk - February 15, 2014

A man police say tried to rob a convenience store Friday night on the Northeast Side died after being shot by the store's clerk.

The man, between 25 and 30, was armed with a Taser when he tried to rob the store. A clerk pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots, police said, but it was unclear how many times the man was hit.

Robber With Taser Killed By 76 Year Old Homeowner - February 15, 2014

The stun gun drawn on the homeowner was disguised to look like a cell phone. The gun was on the homeowner's person at the time of the attempted robbery. Officials have stated that this was a case of self-defense, and the Sheriff's office will not be pursuing charges.

The Lincolnville homeowner shot and killed the suspect on his own driveway in a neighborhood where neighbors report crime has been steadily increasing. The senior citizen called 911 after the incident, saying "I just shot somebody who was trying to rob me."

Louisiana Woman Stops Purse Snatch With Gun Without Firing A Shot - February 11, 2014

Lafayette Parish sheriff's deputies say Vincent Campbell walked to the victim's car while she was sitting in it, opened the door, and grabbed her purse from the floorboard.

Deputies say the victim then pulled a handgun and ordered Campbell to drop the purse. Campbell allegedly complied after being demanded several times to leave the purse alone.

Store Owners Shoots One Of Three Armed Robbers - February 10, 2014

The owner of a Rocky Mount convenience store shot and wounded one of three men suspected of trying to rob the store Sunday night, according to Rocky Mount police.

Three men entered Mix Mart at 1522 S. Church St. about 9 p.m. police said. Two of the men were armed with handguns while the third suspect attempted to rob the 43-year-old man, but the store owner pulled a handgun and the two groups fired multiple shots at one another, police said. The three suspects then fled the scene.

Houston Store Clerk Stops Robbery, Shoots Robber - February 9, 2014

A store clerk in northwest Houston fought back after he was targeted by a would-be robber.

It happened around 8pm at the Stop and Gone convenience store on Antoine near West Little York. Police tell us the suspect tried to hold up the store but the clerk was armed and shot at the man several times.

Hayward California Man Kills Intruder, Wounds 2nd Suspect - February 9, 2014

A man suspected of taking part in a home-invasion robbery was shot and killed Sunday by the victim, who also wounded a female suspect, police said.

When officers arrived, they were met by a resident of the home, who said he had used a handgun to shoot at least two intruders, one male and one female

South Carolina Woman Shoots & Kills Boyfriend After He Attacked Her - February 8, 2014

Orangeburg County deputies say a 23-year-old woman shot and killed her boyfriend after he dragged her back into a house in North and punched her in the head.

The woman told deputies she tried to call her mother, but Williamson refused to let her use the phone. Then when she went outside, the woman says Williamson pulled her back inside and punched her.

Investigators say the woman got a gun and Williamson charged at her. The gun fired, hitting Williamson in the stomach. He died several hours later at the hospital.

Chicago Homeowner Shoots & Kills One Of Two Burglars - February 1, 2014

A 44-year-old man on crutches fatally shot one of two intruders who came charging at him Friday morning in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood, according to police.

Mario Viramontes, 31, was declared dead on the scene in 2000 block of West 21st Street at 9:22 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Police were called to the scene about 9:10 a.m. for a burglary, and when they arrived, they found that a "male offender"; who had been trying to commit a burglary had been shot by the homeowner, said Police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti.,0,3394153.story

Disabled Homeowner Shoots Would Be Burglar - January 27, 2014

Ruben Hernandez, 54, was watching TV at his home at about 8:30 p.m. when he heard a loud banging that grew louder, according to a police report. A metal object was used to hit Hernandez's door, according to police.

Hernandez told police he heard the voice of a man, 19, whom he knew, yelling at him to come out.

Hernandez is disabled and he was scared for his life, thinking the other men were trying to break in, according to police.

Hernandez grabbed a single shot 12-gauge shotgun and fired one shot of No. 8 birdshot through the window, according to police. He told police he did not want to kill anyone.
