Proposed NJ Law Restricts Ammunition Sales - Transfer - June 12, 2013

New Jersey State Bill A4192

The law would restrict the sale of ammo to licensed dealers and a purchaser that possesses a valid firearms purchaser identification card, a valid copy of a permit to purchase a handgun, a valid permit to carry a handgun, or a valid New Jersey hunting license, and first exhibits to the seller, donor, transferor or assignor the card or permit and either a driver's license or non-driver identification card.

Rep. Collins Introduces Bill To Eliminate Unconstitutional 'Sporting Purpose' Distinction In Gun Laws - June 11, 2013

San Francisco Supervisor Proposes Ordinance To Ban Guns That Use High Cap Mags - Track All Ammo Sales - June 6, 2013

Supervisor Malia Cohen has proposed an ordinance banning any firearms that have large capacity magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds. Cohen's proposed ordinance would also require firearms dealers in the City to report every single ammo sale, no matter how small, to the police.

Ohio Bill Corrects Definition Of Automatic Weapon - June 6, 2013

A newly introduced Ohio bill would correct the definition of automatic weapon in Sec. 2923.11 by removing the sentence that now says '"Automatic firearm" also means any semi-automatic firearm designed or specially adapted to fire more than thirty-one cartridges without reloading, other than a firearm chambering only .22 caliber short, long, or long-rifle cartridges.'

US House Votes To Delay DHS Ammo Purchase - June 6, 2013

New York Law To Ban 3D Printed Guns Could Also Ban All Glocks - June 6, 2013

An incredibly poorly worded NY bill leaves room for interpretation as to whether Glock handguns could be illegal. The bill states '(4) SUCH PERSON KNOWINGLY POSSESSES AN UNDETECTABLE AND UNTRACEABLE MACHINE-GUN, FIREARM OR MAGAZINE DIGITALLY MADE AS DEFINED BY SUBDIVISION TWENTY-FIVE OF SECTION 265.00 OF THIS ARTICLE, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN WHOSE FRAME OR RECEIVER IS COMPOSED OF OR BUILT WITH OR MANUFACTURED WITH OR FABRICATED WITH MATERIALS THAT ARE NOT DETECTABLE BY A METAL DETECTOR OR MAGNETOMETER WHEN SET AT STANDARD CALIBRATION.

Note the bolded part. If interpreted incorrectly (ignoring the digitally made) this would then outlaw all Glocks due to their polymer receiver.

Blumenthal May Add Gun Control Amendments To Immigration Bill - June 4, 2013

Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal said he is "seriously considering" pressing for a fresh debate on gun control during the Senate's consideration of legislation to revise U.S. immigration laws.

Blumenthal said he may offer amendments to limit immigrants' access to guns. The Senate is set to start considering the immigration measure, S. 744, next week.

Illinois Legislators Attach Gun Control Amendment To Sex Offender Bill - June 1, 2013

An amendment prohibiting any transfer of "any firearm, firearm ammunition, stun gun, or taser to any person within this State unless the transferee with whom he deals displays a currently valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card" was attached to HB1189 May 31. The parent bill amends the sex offender registration act.

Illinois Legislators Attach High Capacity Magazine Ban To Mortality Review Team Act Bill - June 1, 2013

The amendment outlaws "a detachable magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition; or (2) any combination of parts from which a device". Proposed Wisconsin Bill Outlaws 'Assault Weapons' And High Capacity Magazines - June 1, 2013

AB222 was introduced in the Wisconsin assembly May 29 titled 'Ban on assault weapons and large-capacity magazines and providing a penalty'. This bill would ban any rifle that meets one of many features. The bill also includes a ban on any magazine with a capacity of more than 7 rounds.

NJ Senate Approves Ban On 50 Caliber Rifles - May 31, 2013

California Legislature Moves Seven Gun Bills Forward - May 30, 2013

State: California

A package of seven bills to tighten gun regulations, including one to require registration for the purchase of ammunition, was approved by the state Senate on Wednesday after emotional debate about the limits of the Second Amendment's guarantee of the right to keep and bear arms.

Here are the bill texts:

SB396 Would remove the grandafther clause for any magazine with a capacity of more than 10 rounds, requiring owners to ship them out of state or dispose of them by January 1, 2014

AB180 Gives the city of Oakland special permission to write it's own more restrictive gun laws

AB231 Would create the offense 'criminal storage of a firearm in the 3rd degree' when a person leaves a firearm in a location where the person knows, or reasonably knows a child is likely to gain access to it

SB47 Prohibits so-called bullet buttons and other devices that gun manufacturers use to circumvent the state's assault weapons ban and allow swift reloading. A similar bill, AB48, passed in the Assembly and bans conversion kits that allow people to modify their weapons.

SB53 Requires ammunition buyers to get a permit, have a background check and pay a fee.

SB755 Expands the list of those prohibited from owning weapons to include people convicted of additional drug and alcohol offenses.

SB683 Expands the requirement for a firearms safety certificate from handguns to rifle purchases.

SB374 Prohibits the sale, purchase, manufacture, importation or transfer of semi-automatic rifles that can accept detachable magazines.

SB293 requires that guns sold in the state be equipped with technology, such as biometric readers, that would prevent anyone but the registered owner from firing them.

Proposed Change To Michigan Law Requires License For All Firearms - May 29, 2013
