45 Day Moratorium on Gun Sales in Los Gatos California - March 7, 2013

State: California

A 45 day moratorium on gun sales has been unanimously approved by the Los Gatos Town Council. The moratorium will stay in effect until the town council comes up with permanent ordinances regulating gun sales

Town staff expects to bring up a proposed ordinance in four to six months.

Gun Trafficing Bill In Senate Moves to Full Consideration - March 7, 2013

Federal Bill SB179

The Senate Judiciary Committee approved a new law that would toughen laws on gun trafficking today and cleared it's path for full consideration.

Members voted 11-7 to send the proposal to the full Senate, with Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, the committee's top Republican, joining Democrats in support.

Florida Legislator Proposes Anger Management For Anyone Buying Ammo - March 6, 2013

State: Florida

Florida state Sen. Audrey Gibson (D-Jacksonville) introduced the bill on Saturday, which stipulates ammunition purchasers must go through a three-day waiting period to buy any ammo if they have not completed anger management courses. The bill would mandate that ammo buyers take the anger management course every 10 years.

Utah Advances Bill to Ignore New Federal Gun Laws - March 5, 2013

State: Utah

The Utah House of Representatives advanced HB114 on Monday, a bill that claims Utah gun laws outweigh federal statutes. It passed with a House Judiciary Committee vote of 7-2, with democrats opposing.

The legislation, proposed by Representative Brian Greene-R, Pleasant Grove, was revised to leave out charging members of federal law enforcement with felonies for attempting to enforce federal gun laws by seizing weapons.

Proposed Alabama Legislation Could Increase Gun Rights - March 1, 2013

State: Alabama

New Alabama legislation could increase the rights of gun owners, especially when it comes to concealed carry. One bill would require a sheriff to issue someone a concealed carry permit, unless there is a legal reason to deny it like being a felon.

That same piece of legislation would also require the sheriff to issue a permit to illegal immigrants.
