Stand for the Second is a student led, student driven movement organizing walkouts at high schools across America on May 2, 2018, to stand for the Second Amendment.

There is a lot of talk recently about the need to create new laws that would restrict access to firearms in order to make our schools safer. But not a lot of attention has been given to those of us who want to protect our natural rights that are enshrined in the constitution. That's what Stand for the Second is all about.

Stand for the Second was founded by Will Riley, a high school senior from Carlsbad, NM, and they are calling on students to stage a walkout at their school for 16 minutes on May 2, 2018 at 10am, in support of the Second Amendment.

If you're interested in taking a stand on May 2nd, we encourage you to do so. Organizing a protest or a demonstration can be an intimidating thing to someone who has never done it before. But it doesn't have to be.

We encourage you to take part on May 2nd to not only stand up for the Second Amendment, but to stand up for all of our rights. If you don't stand, then who will?

Pennsylvania people this is an IMPORTANT update about what's going on in Harrisburg with the anti-gunners!

Over the past two weeks over 4,000 anti-gun protesters were in the halls of Harrisburg, 90% of them from 'moms demand'. Monday alone there were 1500 of them in the rotunda screaming for more anti-gun laws to be passed.

They are doing the HARD PUSH and if PA gun owners can't fill that rotunda to the limit on April 30th who do you think these legislators are going to listen to?

It is ABSOLUTELY imperative everyone take the time to be at this rally .... because if not the next rally is going to be AFTER they take away your rights.

Next week, the gun control fight in Trenton moves to the Senate, and NRA members need to make their voice heard loudly.

A package of seven bills are scheduled to be heard in the Senate Law and Public Safety committee on Monday, April 16 at 10:30 a.m. Six of these bills were passed in the Assembly on March 26. When these bills were adopted in an Assembly Committee, gun owners made a strong showing of opposition, and it is essential that happens again.

Anti-gun groups will be out in force, and their gun-banning agenda cannot go unanswered. Please plan to attend!

Pennsylvania people, as some of you may know there will be judiciary committee meetings this week in Harrisburg which are open to the public but they will NOT allow testimony.

Here is a list of the hearings if you want to show up

We have also found out that these meetings will focus ONLY on anti-gun bills (not 100% confirmed but that is what our sources are saying), which means they are going to try and push out as many anti-gun bills to the house floor as possible.

We need every member in PA to get on the phone Monday and beat the snot out of their reps, especially if your rep sits on the judiciary committee!

Again, we are going to keep saying this until it sinks in; PA is one bad election away from becoming New Jersey! Your right to bear arms has NEVER been in more danger!

The Virginia Citizens Defense League has put out an alert stating 38 gun bills will be heard in the state Senate tomorrow, January 15th.

You are probably aware 2018 has a record amount of anti-gun bills in a state that has so far been fairly gun friendly. With the new session starting that has changed and with the slim majority Republicans now have some of these anti-gun bills could make their way to the governor's desk. Given the governor's anti-gun statements in the past we expect him to sign any anti-gun bill he can.

We urge all Virginians to take a few moments and contact their legislators. All of your state legislator's information can be found here. Don't wait until it is too late, the future of your rights is in jeopardy!

This just on from Congressman Thomas Massie, House Democrats are going to attempt to add an anti-gun bill, HR4477, to the National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act that will be up for a vote this coming week. From the Congressman:

ALERT: Feinstein/Schumer sponsored gun legislation that amends the 'Brady bill' will be added to Concealed Carry Reciprocity bill (HR 38) in the House this week.

As Chairman of the Second Amendment Caucus, I'm blowing the whistle on the swamp. Last week, Republicans in the House fast tracked through committee HR 4477, a gun bill titled 'fix-NICS.' The Senate version of this bill is cosponsored by Senator Dianne Feintstein and Senator Chuck Schumer and it will send $625 million over 5 years to states to expand the national background check database. The bill will also advance former President Obama's agenda of pressuring every branch of the administration (such as the Veteran's Administration) to submit thousands of more names to the NICS background check database to deny gun purchases. The House bill is identical in every way to the Senate bill except the House bill will also commission a study on bump-stocks.

What you don't know, and what virtually no one in Washington wants you to know, is that House leadership plans to merge the fix-NICS bill with popular Concealed Carry Reciprocity legislation, HR 38, and pass both of them with a single vote. Folks, this is how the swamp works. House leadership expects constituents to call their representatives demanding a vote on the reciprocity bill, when in fact the only vote will be on the two combined bills.

How fast did Fix-NICS, HR 4477, move through the Judiciary Committee? This bill broke the previous records for fast track legislation. It was voted out of committee within hours of being introduced in the House. Check the dates on this link. That means the text of the bill wasn't even discoverable by the public on congress.gov until after the bill passed out of committee! The text was however available over in the Senate where you will find Senator Diane Feinstein and Senator Chuck Schumer are cosponsors. https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/senate-bill/2135/cosponsors.

If that's not odd enough, consider this: the fix-NICS bill was introduced in the House by a Democrat two weeks ago. https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/4434/text. But, in a very unusual move, the bill was re-introduced verbatim by a Republican two weeks later, with language added to it to commission a bump-stock study. Six Republicans in Judiciary Committee weren't persuaded by the switcheroo, and voted No. However, because every Democrat voted yes and some Republicans voted yes at the urging of the Chairman, the bill made it out of committee. The deed will be complete this week when the bill is quietly added to the Reciprocity bill, HR 38, and passed without the knowledge of those who would oppose the legislation if they knew what was in it.

To recap, what are some clues that you should be concerned with the fix-NICS bill?

(1) The first sentence after the title of the bill reads "Section 103 of the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act (34 U.S.C. 40901) is amended ... "

(2) Senators Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer are cosponsors in the Senate.

(3) It's being rammed through, without a hearing, in a very nontransparent process, and it will be passed by attaching it to the popular concealed carry reciprocity bill which already has enough votes to pass on its own.

(4) It spends over half a billion dollars to collect more names to include in a list of people who will never be allowed to own a firearm.

(5) It compels administrative agencies, not just courts, to adjudicate your second amendment rights.

In my opinion, #5 is the biggest problem. The bill encourages administrative agencies, not the courts, to submit more names to a national database that will determine whether you can or can't obtain a firearm. When President Obama couldn't get Congress to pass gun control, he implemented a strategy of compelling, through administrative rules, the Veterans Administration and the Social Security Administration to submit lists of veterans and seniors, many of whom never had a day in court, to be included in the NICS database of people prohibited from owning a firearm. Only a state court, a federal (article III) court, or a military court, should ever be able to suspend your rights for any significant period of time.

Does the NICS background check system have problems? Yes, it results in tens of thousands of unjustified denials of gun purchases every year. But like many bills in Congress, the fix-NICS doesn't live up to its name, it will likely do the opposite. It throws millions of dollars at a faulty program and it will result in more law-abiding citizens being deprived of their right to keep and bear arms.

If we continue to give the executive branch more money and encouragement to add names to the list of people prohibited from buying a firearm (without a day in court) and if the gun banners achieve their goal of universal background checks, one day, a single person elected to the office of President will be able to achieve universal gun prohibition.

House leadership should immediately de-couple the fix-NICS legislation from the concealed carry reciprocity legislation. People hate it when Washington combines bills like our leadership plans to do this week.

A few have speculated that the House is combining the bills to ensure reciprocity will pass in the Senate. I have some news for them: Senators Feinstein and Schumer aren't going to vote for reciprocity even if it contains the fix-NICS legislation they support for expanding the background check database. If someone is naïve enough to think that's going to work, and they're willing to accept fix-NICS to get reciprocity, then they should ask the Senate to go first with the combined bill.

Here's a dangerous scenario that's more likely to play out: The House uses the popularity of reciprocity (HR 38) to sneak fix-NICS through, while the Senate passes fix-NICS only. The Senate and the House meet at conference with their respective bills, with the result being fix-NICS emerges from conference without reciprocity. Fix-NICS comes back to the House and passes because all of the Democrats will vote for it (as they just did in Judiciary Committee) and many Republicans will vote for it. Because Republicans already voted for it once as part of the reciprocity deal that never came to pass, they won't have a solid footing for opposing fix-NICS as a standalone bill. Then we'll end up with fix-NICS, which is basically an expansion of the Brady Bill, without reciprocity.

If our House leadership insists on bringing the flawed fix-NICS bill to the floor, they shouldn't play games. We should vote separately on HR 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Bill, and HR 4477, the fix-NICS bill. And we should be given enough time to amend the fix-NICS bill, because it needs to be fixed, if not axed.

Please take the time to contact your representatives tomorrow and tell them to do whatever they can to stop this from happening!

This Wednesday, May 31, SB169 is scheduled for a committee hearing in the judiciary committee. SB169 would allow concealed carry of a firearm without a license anywhere in the state where an individual is legally allowed to be. SB169 would also expand the list of places where firearm owners can legally carry and make the current concealed carry licensing system optional. Residents would still be able to obtain a concealed carry license to take advantage of reciprocity agreements with other states.

Under current law, an individual can carry a firearm openly without a license; however, if an individual would carry their firearm in a purse or briefcase, or if their firearm becomes covered by a coat, they would be in violation of law unless they obtained a concealed carry license. This bill would eliminate that worry for anyone that is not otherwise prohibited from owning a firearm,

Yesterday, the Senate Appropriations Committee met for the final time before the Legislature takes their summer break.

And while one anti-gun bill failed to pass two of the worst anti-2A measures were moved forward.

The committee unfortunately passed SB 464 and SB 497.

SB 464 adds multiple security mandates on gun stores that will increase the price of doing business and drive some smaller stores out of existence.

SB 497 is the bill that rations your rights by only allowing the purchase of only one firearm once a month.

Yesterday a Texas House committee approved legislation that would allow handguns to be carried, concealed or in a holster, without a state issued license.

Approval came on a 6-2 party line vote even though all six Republicans voting in favor of House Bill 1911 did so despite reservations, one over concerns that unlicensed carry could hinder police officers, and five because they believed the bill didn't go far enough to remove restrictions on gun owners.

The bill now moves to the House Floor for a vote. While the bill is not perfect it goes a long way to restoring Texas residents constitutional rights.

Please contact your House representative and ask them to support the bill. If possible call them and then follow up that call with an email.

If you don't know about it yet SB5, the Senate version of 'preemption with teeth' bill passed yesterday with a veto-proof margin of 34-16. The bill now heads to the house where that same veto-proof margin in not a guarantee.

Governor Wolf has already said he will veto the bill if it hits his desk.

Every gun-rights supporter in Pennsylvania needs to contact their house representative and tell them this is a must pass piece of legislation. Please take the time to pick up the phone and call them, then follow up that call with an email.

It is essential this bill gets passed with enough votes to override a veto and to finally tell local governments they can not pass random gun laws that are illegal.

2 pro-gun bills and one anti-gun bill will be heard in committee tomorrow, April 4th.

The Senate Public Safety Committee will hear SB497 and SB710 and AB757 will be heard Assembly Public Safety Committee.

AB757 would make California a 'shall issue' state, something gun owners have wanted for a long time.

SB497, authored by Sen. Portantino, would change the one gun a month law to include all guns, not just handguns.

SB710, authored by Sen. Joel Anderson, would remove the prohibition on hunting with suppressors. It of course won't make them legal to own but it's a step in the right direction.

We urge all California members to contact these two committees and show your support for AB757 and SB710 while voicing your opposition to SB497.

We need every voice we can muster to urge state lawmakers to overturn Gov. Dennis Daugaard's veto of a bill to allow people who can legally carry a concealed handgun in South Dakota to do so without a permit.

The Republican held Legislature is to gather Monday for the final day of the 2017 session to accept or override vetoes from the GOP governor.

Please take the time to call your legislator and ask them to support the veto override.

Texas people need to get hold of their senators and representatives before Monday, especially if they are on the House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee in the house or if they are on the Senate Criminal Justice Committee.

HB866 will be heard by the committee in Room E2.014 of the State Capitol.

This bill is an abomination patterned after the California 'gun violence restraining order' law that was passed last year.

Individuals who are under these orders could be forced by the courts, without due process, to surrender all their firearms to a law enforcement agency.

On the Senate side SB221 will be heard Tuesday, March 21, at 1approximately :30pm in Room E1.016. SB221 would prohibit the transfer of any firearm to anyone listed on the terrorist screening list which of course we all know also has no due process or means to be removed from.

Kill these new bills in committee, get on the phone, send emails, whatever you need to do but stop these horrible bills in their tracks

Two extremely important bills have been introduced in the house and senate that would finally eliminate the Pennsylvania State Police choke hold on gun sales. Both bills would completely eliminate the PICS system in favor of the national instant check system.

You probably know but we will say it again, this system is a MESS that costs PA citizens 8 million dollars a year. Not only is is constantly down but it allows the state police to keep an illegal database of gun owners.

Please look at both bills on the site and if your rep / senator is not a sponsor or co-sponsor please call them and ask them to co-sponsor and support the bill(s).

This could FINALLY be the year we stop this abuse of power by the State Police and your voice counts in Harrisburg!

The poorly thought out and incredibly anti-gun bill HB50 has moved out of committee and is expected to be voted on on the house floor late this week or early next week.

The bill, if passed, would create incredible burdens on gun owners that would have to get background checks on almost all sales and transfers. This would include having to get a background check when receiving your own gun back from someone you lent it to.

A similar bill, SB48 is also moving through the Senate and must be stopped.

These bills are being pushed by Everytown for Gun Safety, a group funded by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Call your reps and tell them your rights are NOT subject to a little dictator from New York's desire to disarm everyone he can. Tell them to throw these bills out along with this New York tyrant!

Two anti-gun bills mandating background checks on virtually all gun transfers passed out of committee in both chambers of the New Mexico legislature last week.

On Saturday, the House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee voted 3-1 to approve HB 50, requiring background checks on private gun sales. This came just days after lawmakers in the New Mexico Senate's Public Affairs Committee passed similar legislation, SB 48, 5-3.

These bills would do nothing to stop criminals from getting guns, they would only add further burdens to law abiding citizens wishing to exercise their second amendment rights.

Yesterday, 32 of 33 Sheriffs that make up the New Mexico Sheriffs Association condemned both SB 48 and HB 50. "These measures would make it harder for law abiding New Mexicans to exercise their Second Amendment rights, waste scarce law enforcement resources, and do nothing to keep guns out of the hands of criminals," the association said.

Moms Demand Action, a group funded by New York billionaire Michael Bloomberg, are pushing for the bills passage as part of their national gun control agenda.

Please contact your legislators in both chambers and tell them to do anything they can to stop these bills from advancing any further and if they do come to a floor vote to vote no.

SB140, a newly introduced bill is scheduled for a committee hearing next Tuesday, January 10th.

The bill, if passed, would allow open carry of firearms as well as eliminating gun free zones in places like secondary schools, local centers and government meeting areas.

With Senator De La Portilla out of the picture this could very well be the year this bill passes but it needs your voice to get it done.

We have learned that SB1330, the preemption bill passed last week in the Senate has once again been stalled by house Democrats and is essentially dead. Once again they will try every trick they can and this time it has worked.

PA residents have another option but time is running out. There are only 3-4 more days left in the session and if you want local townships to stop playing games with gun laws you have to act now.

Senator Alloway has drafted an amendment to HB1496, which has already passed the house and is up for third consideration in the Senate. The amendment will mirror SB1330. If it can be amended to the bill and passes third consideration the bill goes back to the house for a simple concurrence vote. Literally, the Democrats would have no way to remove the amendment.

We would ask you to immediately pick up the phone and call three people.

Time is of the essence so please act now. Respectfully ask these Senators to move HB1496 with the Alloway amendment intact. If you have friends that care about this issue please forward this to them and ask them to contact these people.

As you might already know SB1330 passed the Senate yesterday by a vote of 30-19. One Senator, Rafferty, wasn't there for the vote.

SB1330 is another attempt at forcing municipalities to obey the preemption laws of the state (sad that they need to be forced to obey the law)

While it passed and now heads to the house the bill doesn't have enough votes to override a veto by the governor, and he has said he would veto it.

It is a sad state of affairs when local governments thumb their nose at the law all while demanding citizens follow those laws. These Senators that voted against the bill are essentially saying local governments are above the law. That has to stop!

Everyone needs to get on the phone and:

1) Contact your house rep and tell them to support SB1330

2) Contact the following senators and demand they support a veto override.

Friends,

I try not to burden you with a lot of e-mails but this one is significant. As you may know we have been working to advance pro-gun legislation in Harrisburg and are on the cusp of two of our issues being addressed, finally!

These bills involve preemption (HB2258 & SB1330) and semi-auto firearms for hunting (SB737) and are all keyed up and ready to go EXCEPT we are being held hostage by anti-gunners and money and 'apathy' among our ranks!

We are being blocked by a concerted effort from anti-gun groups through their minions of evil (anti-gun legislators) in a historic show of abuse of the political process. HB2258 has had 242 amendments filed AGAINST it and this is a record. SB737 has had 19 amendments filed against it. The end goal is to force leadership to pull the bills from consideration.

We are being terrorized by a small group of misfits in and outside of the legislature who are abusing the process to stymie legislation that has overwhelming support.

I’m laying this in your laps because gun owners are faced with an ugly reality! If we do not get more of our friends and family involved and calling their legislators and leadership of BOTH parties then I fear our ability to get ANYTHING passed will be impossible. What is even more critical is that the NEXT step for them is to force anti-gun legislation to be passed or these political whores will shut down work on other bills.

If our 2ND Amendment is gone our freedom is done

I’m sorry but I have done everything I can think of and have been warning you of this coming evolution of the political process for a while. Well it is HERE now. Either get involved now or plan on PA becoming New Jersey in the not too distant future and prepare to surrender your firearms because what is going on now is ONLY going to get worse!
