Legislation Overview
Title: Emergency custody orders; temporary firearms restriction orders.
Description: Emergency custody orders; temporary firearms restriction orders. Requires a magistrate who issues an emergency custody order to also issue a temporary firearms restriction order for a period of 90 days. A person subject to a temporary firearms restriction order who purchases, possesses, or transports a firearm while the order is in effect is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. A person who is subject to a temporary firearms restriction order, at any time prior to the expiration of such order, may petition the general district court in the county or city in which he resides to restore his right to purchase, possess, or transport a firearm.
