Legislation Overview

Title: Concealed handguns; revocation of permit.

Description: Revocation of concealed handgun permit; alcohol or illegal drugs. Makes optional, and conditioned on a determination that the violation demonstrates a reckless disregard for safety, the court's revocation of a person's concealed handgun permit upon conviction of carrying a handgun in a public place while under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs. Under current law, revocation of such convicted person's permit is mandatory. The bill provides that only if such convicted person's permit is revoked by the court is the convicted person ineligible to apply for a concealed handgun permit for five years.
