Legislation Overview

Title: CRIM CD-ASSAULT WEAPONS

Description: Amends the Criminal Code of 2012. Provides that an "assault weapon" includes a semiautomatic shotgun that has a fixed magazine with the capacity of more than 10 (rather than 5) rounds. Defines "capacity" as the total number of rounds that can be used of the maximum identified chambered sized round. Provides that "assault weapon" does not include any firearm that is included on the list of applicable weapons approved for hunting purposes and expressly permitted under the Wildlife Code.
