Legislation Overview

Title: FOID-MISDEMEANOR SEX OFFENSES

Description: Amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act. Provides that an applicant for a Firearm Owner's Identification Card must submit evidence to the Department of State Police that he or she has not been convicted of a misdemeanor sex offense under the Criminal Code of 2012. Provides that the Department of State Police has authority to deny an application for or to revoke and seize a Firearm Owner's Identification Card previously issued under the Act only if the Department finds that the applicant or the person to whom the card was issued is or was at the time of issuance a person who was convicted of a misdemeanor sex offense under the Criminal Code of 2012.
