Legislation Overview

Title: USE/OCC-FIREARMS

Description: Amends the Use Tax Act, the Service Use Tax Act, the Service Occupation Tax Act, and the Retailers' Occupation Tax Act. Provides that the rate of tax on firearms and firearm component parts shall be 10% (currently, 6.25%). Provides that the proceeds attributable to the increased rate shall be deposited into the At-Risk Youth Assistance Fund. Amends the State Finance Act to create the Fund. Sets forth the purposes for which moneys in the Fund may be used. Effective immediately.
