Legislation Overview
Title: FIREARM DEAL LIC CERT-TRAINING
Description: Amends the Firearm Dealer License Certification Act. Provides that a certified licensee and any employee of a certified licensee who sells or transfers firearms shall receive at least 2 hours of training annually on how to recognize individuals with mental illness, mental impairment, or mental disease that would make those individuals a clear and present danger to themselves or others if those individuals possessed firearms. Provides that a federally licensed firearm dealer who sells or delivers firearms in the State and is exempt from the certification requirements of the Act is required to receive training on recognizing individuals with mental illness, mental impairment, or mental disease that would make those individuals a clear and present danger to themselves or others if those individuals possessed firearms. Defines "clear and present danger". Amends the Criminal Code of 2012 to make conforming changes.
