This thread will be updated on a regular basis when new bills come in for Maine .

Note: We will only post legislation we feel is negative or positive, those new bills which don't actually effect your rights will not be included but you can always find them on the state legislation page.

LD1068 would prohibit anyone under a protection of harassment order from owning firearms and would require them to surrender them

LD976 would add bump stocks to the definition of machine guns

LD805 would allow municipalities to prohibit firearms at polling places on election day

LD759 would require firearms be locked up in homes with children

LD1052 would prohibit further regulation of firearms and firearm related businesses during a declared emergency

LD884 would prohibit the retention of firearm records by the state

LD1179 would require any use of Maine law enforcement to participate in federal gun buyback or confiscation programs to be first approved by the legislature and the governor

LD1138 would remove the duty to retreat before using force to defend oneself

LD1140 would make firearm safety devices, such as gun safes, tax free

LD1286 would require the state to apply to ATF for an exemption from background checks for those that have carry licenses
