Sportsman's Loft/The Attic

This gun store is located on the south side of town, convenient if you're entering on Highway 2 from the east or west or from the south on Highway 83, of course. The lower section is mostly dedicated to ammunition and reloading supplies, while there is a small upper room with antique and old military firearms.

The selection of ammunition is quite good, and will probably satisfy most folks from rifle hunters all the way to target handgun shooters. There is little in the way of archery equipment, for what it is worth. They have a good selection of 'black rifles' as well as shotguns and hunting rifles, and I've always seen crowded handgun shelves.

The negative is the cramped area and the sometimes overwhelming number of people in the store. It has outstanding variety and selection for its size, in addition to a good location, so there are really all types of folks in there at any given time.

For this reason, it can be very busy, and there have been complaints which I have sometimes witnessed that the staff is either short or just not as attentive as one would like.

The times I have been in there when it was quiet, the staff were all friendly and it was an enjoyable visit. They are just usually busy-not the best place to go to if you are looking to shoot the breeze or need a lot of attention/have a lot of questions.

Ammo prices are slightly higher than at Scheel's, probably to be expected, but the selection, especially of the higher quality ammo, is better at the Loft.
