Gun Owner Defense Stories

While no one ever wants to have to draw their weapon and even more so kill another person average citizens defend themselves, and others, on a daily basis. We do not post these stories to glorify them, far from it. Taking another humans life is a horrible thing that no one wants to experience. But since these type of stories are often overlooked by main stream media and anti-gun groups constantly tell us guns don't save lives we feel the need to keep the public aware that average gun owners are saving lives each and every day.

Store Clerk With Gun Fends Off Robber With Knife - November 5, 2014

A store clerk said she feared for her life when she fired a shot at a steak knife-wielding masked man attempting to rob the store before he ran out Monday night, she told Lancaster police.

"I fired one shot at him and I missed him," the City Center Drive Thru clerk said, sounding scared and breathless during the 911 call.

The clerk described the masked man as about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build, wearing black sweatpants and a gray hooded sweatshirt with a mask that also seemed to be made out of sweatshirt material with two eye holes cut out. She said it looked like the man was wearing sunglasses under the mask.

Tennessee Homeowner Kills Armed Masked Intruder - November 4, 2014

Gary Jonathan McCormick told police that he was sitting in his Antioch living room watching television this morning, with his wife asleep on the couch, just before a masked man entered whom he said he shot and killed in self-defense.

McCormick, 34, told Nashville police he opened fire on the man when the intruder directed his demands for money and other belongings toward McCormick's wife.

Nashville Homeowner Shoots And Kills Masked Intruder - November 4, 2014

A homeowner opened fire on an armed masked intruder in Antioch Tuesday morning, ultimately killing the man in the 5700 block of Longbranch off Terragon Trail.

The homeowner reported to police he was watching TV in his living room while his wife was asleep on the couch when the gunman entered through an unlocked screen door.

The gunman, whose face was masked by a bandana, demanded money and other belongings.

Tenant Shoots And Kills Burglar - November 3, 2014

A Colorado Springs homeowner said the tenant living in her rental home in the 2900 block of W. Colorado Avenue shot and killed a man trying to burglarize the home.

Colorado Springs police report officers received a call just after midnight about a burglary in progress with shots fired. When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. He later died at the hospital.

"She said she just heard some crashing, and got up and saw that this guy was climbing through her window," said homeowner Linda Orist of her tenant.

Robbery Suspect Shot And Killed By Elderly Husband - October 29, 2014

A man was shot and killed Tuesday night while he was attempting to rob an elderly couple outside a Northwest Dallas grocery store.

The man approached a man and a woman as they walked out of a grocery store and snatched a gold necklace from the woman's neck. The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. at the Aldi in the 3000 block of Forest Lane near Webb Chapel Road.

The man knocked the woman to the ground and tried to rob her. The woman's husband, 71-year-old Ronnie Lummus, pulled out a handgun and fired several shots at the man as he was attempting to flee in his car. The man got in his car but died before fleeing, police said.

Two Female Burglars Shot By Homeowner - October 29, 2014

Two women suspected of attempting to burglarize a house in the Walden on Lake Houston subdivision were shot by the homeowner after they reportedly broke into his residence Wednesday afternoon.

The homeowner, who was not identified, called law enforcement to report that two females were throwing rocks at his windows in an attempt to break in.

The suspects were able to break the glass near the front of the residence and reach into the house to unlock the door. At that point, the homeowner responded with a shotgun.

KFC Employee Returns Gunfire, Suspect In Critical Condition - October 27, 2014

A robbery in progress at KFC on 20th Street in Ensley was stopped by a quick thinking employee who took matters into his own hands.

Around 6:30 Sunday night, two men walked into KFC in Ensley and they were armed. At the time, there were no customers inside the fast food restaurant but it was filled with employees. One of those employees was forced into action.

"He wanted to flee for cover. So in the process of fleeing he was shot and after he was shot he grabbed his weapon and returned fire,

" Lt. Sean Edwards with the Birmingham Police Department described.

Pennsylvania Lawmaker Stops Robbery With Concealed Carry Firearm - October 15, 2014

A Pennsylvania state lawmaker who got into a shootout with a 15-year-old boy who was trying to rob him near the Capitol said Wednesday the experience proves the value of packing a gun.

State Rep. Marty Flynn, a former prison guard who is licensed to carry a handgun, said he believes he probably would have been killed if he had not used the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 pistol that he conceals in a belt holster worn on the small of his back.

Flynn said he put his hands up but Bizzarro was going through his pockets, attracting the attention of the teenager, who was about 8 feet away. While the youth trained his weapon at Bizzarro, Flynn drew his pistol. Flynn said he fired twice after the youth fired the first shot. Harrisburg police said the first two shots were "almost simultaneous."

Michigan CC Holder Stops Rape Of Neighbor Holds Rapist For Police - October 10, 2014

The mother of a woman who told police she was attacked inside an east-side home said she is thankful for neighbors who rushed to her daughter's aid, including a man who held the alleged attacker at gunpoint then chased him down and helped hold him until police arrived.

Jessica Abels, who lives near the spot on Cronk Avenue near Illinois Avenue where the woman was found walking bloodied and naked, said she looked out the window when she heard a woman screaming for help around 2 p.m. Sept. 26.

Several area residents offered the 21-year-old woman clothing and comfort while a man who holds a valid concealed pistols license ordered the suspect out of the house at gunpoint, according to Flint police.

Son Fires On Three Home Invaders, Killing One And Saving His Family - October 3, 2014

A man opened fire on a group of home invaders inside his family's northwest Harris County Texas home early Friday. One of the suspects died at the scene while the other two fled in a getaway vehicle. It all happened around 4:30 a.m. in the 23000 block of Botkins Road in the Hockley area.

Family members told deputies that their mother was in the kitchen cooking breakfast with three young granddaughters when the armed men broke in. The woman's adult son heard the commotion from his bedroom and grabbed his gun.

" ... and when he heard 'please don't hurt the girls,' that's when he took action," deputies said.

11 Year Old Girl Shoots Man Attacking Her Mother - September 24, 2014

An 11 year old girl was called a hero by neighbors Wednesday after she used a handgun to shoot a man who was attacking her mother.

About 4 a.m. Tuesday, Oklahoma City police were called to a home at 3308 SE 89 and found Brandy Moreno, who said she was stabbed by her ex-boyfriend, Leo Henry.

Police said Henry broke into the house and began to attack Moreno until her daughter, Jayda Milsap, 11, shot Henry twice with a handgun. Henry tried to flee from the home after being shot and was found down the street, police said.

Wife Stops Attack On Her Husband By 5 Or 6 Men With Gun - September 9, 2014

Police are still looking for the men who they said threatened a youth football league coach with a gun and then began beating him after a dispute over playing time. The coach's wife pulled out a gun and fired it in the air to scare the men away.

A woman came to the park Monday night and began yelling at the coach, prompting the 'team mom' to step in and urge her to calm down, Burris said. The woman left and police were called to the park. They interviewed witnesses and left.

About 20 minutes after the police left, Burris said, a group of men walked up to the field in the park and asked which coach had talked to their relative. When they found out, they confronted him.

One of the men lifted his shirt to display a handgun tucked into the waist of his pants. Moments later, five or six other men began beating up the 37-year-old coach. One of the men used a set of brass knuckles.

Seeing the attack, the coach's wife pulled out a gun and fired a warning shot into the air. The coach broke free of his attackers and went to his car for a second gun, which he pointed at various people in the crowd. The attackers had all fled the park by the time officers arrived.

Omaha Homeowner Shoots And Kills Burglar - September 8, 2014

An Omaha man who was home with his 4-year-old daughter fatally shot a burglar Monday morning.

Officers arrived to find Darrell W. Miller lying on the porch with a gunshot wound. Miller was transported to the Creighton University Medical Center, where he died.

Miller, who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, is the second intruder to be shot and killed by a homeowner during a burglary attempt this year.

Homeowner Shoots One Of Two Home Invaders - September 3, 2014

Nicolas Porcayo, 18; and Brandon Mendez, 19, came to the home in the 7300 block of Oakwood Lane in unincorporated Crystal Lake early Tuesday and demanded to speak to the residents, according to a statement from the McHenry County sheriff's office.

They kicked down a locked door, and the homeowner—who was armed with a firearm demanded they leave, according to the statement. The men refused to leave, and the homeowner shot Mendez in the abdomen.

Burglar Offers To Mow Homeowners Lawn After Being Fired On - September 3, 2014

Joseph Cihak awoke to go to the bathroom at 4:30 a.m. when he heard noises in his Westwood Terrace North home. Police said Cihak, who armed himself, walked into his living room to find Bryan Remley, 25, going through Cihak's belongings. Cihak said he was armed because his home had been broken into on August 28.

Cihak said when Remley saw him, he started to run in his direction. Officials said Cihak fired two shots, missing the intruder. Cihak's gun jammed and he ran to get a second gun.

Remley then ran towards the kitchen to try to get out of the house, but he was unable to escape, police said. When Cihak got to the kitchen, he found Remley lying on the floor.

Remley asked Cihak to let him go, saying he would come back and mow the lawn.

CCW Holder Shots One Of Four Would Be Robbers - September 2, 2014

Police said a group of people attempted to rob another group of people near South Second Street and National Avenue early Monday morning. Investigators said one of the would-be victims produced a gun and shot one of the would-be robbers.

Lt. Mark Stanmeyer said the shooting victim was a 15-year-old boy that he called "a known gang member" who had a lengthy arrest record including armed robbery and auto theft.!bO75EQ

Female Homeowner Holds Burglar At Gunpoint - September 2, 2014

A woman woke up in the middle of the night to find a stranger hiding inside her home. Instead of letting him get away, Barb Hayley, 52, cornered him with her dog and her husband's firearm.

Officers sent to the home met with Hayley, who said she woke up to go to the restroom, when her dog ran out of her bedroom barking.

After hearing a loud crashing sound from her bedroom, the woman said she took her husband's gun and found an unknown person hiding in her closet.

She said she threatened to shoot him if he moved before police arrived.!bPbtEV

Omaha Woman Holds Intruder At Bay Until Police Arrive - September 2, 2014

Barbara Haley, a 52-year-old Omaha woman, packing a .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun, held off a would-be thief who had worked his way into her home near 70th and Farnam Streets early Tuesday by admonishing him to stay in her bedroom closet until police arrived.

I told him: "I will blow your expletive) head off," Haley said. I said: "I WILL shoot you."

Jody Kudlacz, 24, was taken into custody shortly after 3 a.m. Police said he was booked on suspicion of burglary.

Dairy Queen Employee Shoots And Kills Armed Robber - August 28, 2014

The man went to the Dairy Queen's window with a gun and demanded money. The cashier gave him money and ducked behind the counter. The man then asked for more money. That's when a different restaurant employee, "in fear of his own life," fired at the robber.

The man was struck at least once and died after being transported to University of New Mexico Hospital.

Gun Owner Stops AR-15 Weilding Robber - August 23, 2014

Tim Jackson was in the GameStop in the Eisenhower Crossing Shopping Center on Thursday during an armed robbery. He tells us he went in to GameStop to buy a $6 Star Wars video game for his son.

Jackson says the man, Britton, walked in, "as cool as a cucumber," saying he was waiting to check out.

Then Jackson heard, "Get on the ground or I'm going to start shooting."
