Legislation Overview

Title: AN ACT relating to general principles of justification.

Description: Create a new section of KRS Chapter 503 to incorporate the "no duty to retreat" provisions elsewhere in the chapter; amend KRS 503.050, 503.055, 503.070, and 503.080 to require a reasonable belief that defensive force is necessary before it is justified; change the term "great bodily harm" to "serious physical injury" as used throughout the Penal Code; amend KRS 503.060 to require an initial aggressor to retreat before the use of force can be rejustified; repeal KRS 503.120.
