Does the dealer have an adequate selection of firearms?
Does the dealer have an adequate selection of ammunition?
Does the dealer have an adequate selection of accessories?
Does the dealer do private gun transfers?
Are this dealer's prices comparable with the market?
Are this dealer's business hours adequate?
Is the staff knowledgeable?
Scheel's at the Mall
This would be the second most recognizable gun store in town. (The other is Sportsman's Loft/The Attic).
They have a full complement of all the standard handgun brands, as well as a a great selection of rifles and a few big jonnys (.50, .338 Lapua, etc) If you want lots of ammo, this would be the place.
In addition, they are the only place I know of in town that has moderately varied selection of gun safes and hard cases. If you're looking for the latest deer or fish killing fad, this is the place.
Staff is knowledgeable, at least the three that I have spent time with, and that impressed me even more so knowing that I am at a big sports store-pleasantly surprised. You'll probably have the best luck here if you're looking for a hunting rifle/shotgun.
Not sure what else to say-it is Scheel's. Like most big businesses, they provide adequate service for the middle margin of demand, but don't accommodate much specialization.
With the exception of more knowledgeable staff than expected, this store is what you'd expect from a franchised retail gun store.
