R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, William L. Jackson has been named chief of police |
|
for the City of Newton; and |
|
WHEREAS, A highly skilled professional, Mr. Jackson brings |
|
to his new role more than two decades of experience in law |
|
enforcement; he is currently a detective sergeant with the Fort |
|
Stockton Police Department, where he has served with distinction |
|
for the past 18 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson holds a Master Peace Officer license and |
|
he is a Certified Firearms Instructor; since his graduation from |
|
the Kilgore Police Academy in 1992, he has completed more than 50 |
|
law enforcement training classes, including courses in management, |
|
child abuse prevention, forensic science, gangs, and juvenile |
|
justice; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Buna, Mr. Jackson is upholding a family |
|
tradition in law enforcement; his father was a lawman, his brother |
|
is a Jasper police officer, his niece is a Texas Highway Patrol |
|
trooper, and his brother-in-law is a federal probation officer; and |
|
WHEREAS, William Jackson has demonstrated a strong |
|
commitment to excellence throughout his career, and the Newton |
|
Police Department is sure to benefit from his dedicated leadership; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate William Jackson on his appointment |
|
as chief of the Newton Police Department and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Jackson as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
