SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 472
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Richard Nelson Rose
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Arlington in mourning the loss of Richard Nelson
  Rose, who died March 3, 2015, at the age of 68; and
         WHEREAS, Rick Rose was born February 4, 1947, in Longview,
  and he graduated from Copperas Cove High School; he began studies
  at Tarleton State University, and he volunteered for service with
  the United States Army in 1966; and
         WHEREAS, Sergeant Rose served with the 6th Special Forces
  Group at Fort Bragg and was deployed as a platoon leader with the
  Mobile Strike Force of the 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam;
  he served with honor and distinction, and in July of 1968, he was
  awarded the Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device for valor for his
  actions against a Vietcong enemy force; and
         WHEREAS, After his discharge from the Army, Mr. Rose pursued
  a career in law enforcement, and for more than 30 years he served
  Texas communities in a number of capacities; he was particularly
  proud of his role as an investigator in the Betty Beets case, one of
  the most famous murder cases in state history; and
         WHEREAS, Rick Rose was a devoted husband, father, and
  grandfather who cherished spending time with his family; he was
  beloved by many, and he will long be remembered with deep admiration
  by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Richard Nelson Rose; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Rick Rose.
