SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 206
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  W. I. Davis Jr.
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Center in mourning the loss of W. I. Davis Jr., who
  died October 17, 2014, at the age of 92; and
         WHEREAS, W. I. Davis was born on September 29, 1922, in
  Center; a 1939 graduate of Center High School, he attended
  Schreiner University and The University of Texas, and he served
  the nation with distinction during World War II as a member of the
  United States Army Air Corps; and
         WHEREAS, He married Inez Neilson on April 5, 1947, and they
  enjoyed 67 years of marriage together; they were blessed with two
  children, Neilson Davis and Cynthia Davis Griffin, and with two
  grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Davis was a highly successful entrepreneur
  whose business interests included managing a cattle operation
  and several large tree farms; he was the Mobil Oil Company
  consignee for over 30 years, and he served on the board of
  directors of Farmers State Bank for more than 50 years; and
         WHEREAS, He received numerous honors over the course of his
  distinguished career and was active in a wide range of
  professional and civic organizations; a devout Christian who
  practiced his faith in his daily life, he was a longtime member of
  First United Methodist Church; and
         WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
  grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
  forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of W. I. Davis Jr.; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of W. I. Davis Jr.
