A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the issuance of a concealed handgun license. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 411.177, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(b-1) Immediately after the decision is made under |
|
|
Subsection (a) to issue a license to an applicant, the department |
|
|
shall issue to the applicant a temporary license that is valid until |
|
|
the applicant receives the license approved under Subsection (a). |
|
|
A temporary license must be provided in an electronic format and |
|
|
must include all of the information required by Section 411.179, |
|
|
except that the photograph is not required to be in color. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 411.177(b-1), Government Code, as added |
|
|
by this Act, applies only to an application decision that is made by |
|
|
the Department of Public Safety on or after the effective date of |
|
|
this Act. An application decision that is made before the effective |
|
|
date of this Act is governed by the law in effect when the decision |
|
|
was made, and the former law is continued in effect for that |
|
|
purpose. |

|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
