R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Del Mar College chapter of the Texas |
|
|
Association of Chicanos in Higher Education have contributed to |
|
|
their campus through many worthwhile endeavors; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1974, TACHE is a professional association |
|
|
that strives to address the needs of and increase employment |
|
|
opportunities for Hispanics in colleges and universities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, One of five regional chapters in Texas, the Del Mar |
|
|
College chapter has played a vital role in advancing the mission of |
|
|
its parent association; in addition to funding scholarships for |
|
|
deserving students, chapter members are actively engaged in local, |
|
|
state, and national organizations that advocate for a diverse |
|
|
student body, faculty, and staff at institutions of higher |
|
|
education; moreover, the chapter hosts cultural events during |
|
|
Hispanic Heritage Month and Black History Month as well as a range |
|
|
of other social functions throughout the year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Del Mar College chapter of TACHE have |
|
|
helped foster diversity at their school and in the community at |
|
|
large, and it is indeed fitting to recognize their outstanding |
|
|
efforts; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor the Del Mar College chapter of the Texas |
|
|
Association of Chicanos in Higher Education and extend to each of |
|
|
its members sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the chapter as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
