A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to exempt manufacturers and distributors of motorcoaches from the prohibition on owning, operating, or controlling a motor vehicle dealership in this state.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. G.S. 20‑286 is amended by adding a new subdivision:
"(9a) Motorcoach. – A commercial bus designed or used to transport passengers for compensation with (i) a gross vehicle weight rating of at least 26,000 pounds; (ii) a seating capacity of 16 or more designated positions, including the driver; and (iii) no less than two rows of passenger seats rearward of the driver's seating position that are forward‑facing or can be converted to forward‑facing without the use of tools."
SECTION 2. G.S. 20‑305.2(b) reads as rewritten:
"(b) Subsection (a) of this section does not apply
to manufacturers or distributors of (i) trailers or semitrailers that
are not recreational vehicles as defined in G.S. 20‑4.01.G.S. 20‑4.01
or (ii) motorcoaches."
SECTION 3. This act is effective when it becomes law.
