A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to prohibit the discharge of a firearm or bow and arrow from the right‑of‑way in yancey county.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  It is unlawful to discharge a firearm or bow and arrow, or to attempt to discharge a firearm or bow and arrow, from, on, across, or over the roadway or right‑of‑way of any State‑maintained road.

SECTION 2.  Violation of the provisions of this act is punishable as a Class 3 misdemeanor.

SECTION 3.  This act is enforceable by law enforcement officers of the Wildlife Resources Commission, by sheriffs and deputy sheriffs, and by other peace officers with general subject matter jurisdiction.

SECTION 4.  This act applies only to Yancey County.

SECTION 5.  This act becomes effective October 1, 2014, and applies to offenses committed on or after that date.
