Senate Concurrent Resolution 526

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE OUTSTANDING CAREER OF LEGENDARY MADISON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACH BOBBY HALL ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

WHEREAS, Bobby Hall, the Mississippi High School Activities Association's winningest active coach, has announced 2014 would be his last year at the helm of the Madison Central football and athletic program, a position he has often called "the best job in the state." Finding someone to replace Madison Central Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Bobby Hall won't be easy; and

WHEREAS, after a 21-20 win over Northwest Rankin in his final home game and his final victory at Greenwood, Hall's record at Madison Central stands at 88-32. He led Madison Central Jaguars "Big Blue" to playoff appearances in each of his first nine seasons, and lost to the eventual state champion in six of those nine; and

WHEREAS, Bobby earned his respect among Mississippi's prep coaching ranks long before taking the Madison Central job by winning three state titles at Amory and another at Louisville High. This season is his 37th in football and his 30th at the high school level. His all-time record stands at 297-83; and

WHEREAS, "Coach Hall is ending a stellar career as only the third Head Coach/Athletic Director in the 23-year history of Madison Central High School," Superintendent Ronnie McGehee said; and

WHEREAS, Coach Hall is a native of Baldwyn and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Mississippi in 1978. He has coached at all levels of the game throughout his 34-year career, having won four high school state championships (Louisville High School in 1991 and Amory High School in 1994, 1995 and 1998). His 1995 Amory team was ranked 16th in the final USA Today National High School Poll. Coach Hall has also served as Receivers and Quarterbacks Coach at Murray State University and Head Football Coach for the Tupelo FireAnts, a professional team. In 1987 and 1994, he was named by the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal as Coach of the Year. In 1995, he was named by The Clarion-Ledger as State Coach of the Year. In 2002, he was named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges State Coach of the Year for his accomplishments as Head Football Coach at Northeast Community College in Booneville. In 2009, he was named the BankPlus Blitz Coach of the Year; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we mark the end of an era in high school football and pay tribute to a wonderful mentor for young Mississippians with a record of achievement and legacy of leadership who has brought honor to his school, the football coaching profession and to his state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize the outstanding career of legendary Madison Central High School Football Coach Bobby Hall on the occasion of his retirement and join with the Madison Central Big Blue community in wishing Coach Hall and his family success in their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Bobby Hall, forwarded to the Madison County Board of Education and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
