H.F. 885 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 483A.8D Disabled veterans —— deer 1 hunting licenses. 2 1. A disabled veteran who is a resident may be issued 3 one any sex deer hunting license to hunt deer during any 4 established firearm deer hunting season using the method of 5 take authorized for the season being hunted. A person who 6 applies for a license pursuant to this section shall complete a 7 form, as required by rule, that provides proof of the person’s 8 resident and disability status. 9 2. A person may obtain a license under this section in 10 addition to any other deer hunting license for which the person 11 is eligible. 12 3. For purposes of this section, “disabled veteran” means 13 a person who has served in the armed forces of the United 14 States on federal active duty and who was disabled during the 15 veteran’s military service, as verified by the department of 16 veterans affairs. 17 Sec. 2. Section 483A.24, subsection 4, unnumbered paragraph 18 1, Code 2025, is amended to read as follows: 19 The director shall provide up to seventy-five one hundred 20 twenty-five nonresident wild turkey hunting licenses for 21 allocation as provided in this subsection . 22 Sec. 3. Section 483A.24, subsection 4, paragraph b, Code 23 2025, is amended to read as follows: 24 b. Twenty-five Seventy-five of the nonresident wild turkey 25 hunting licenses shall be allocated as provided in subsection 26 5 . 27 Sec. 4. Section 483A.24, subsection 5, unnumbered paragraph 28 1, Code 2025, is amended to read as follows: 29 Seventy-five of the nonresident deer hunting licenses 30 allocated under subsection 3 and twenty-five seventy-five of 31 the wild turkey hunting licenses allocated under subsection 4 32 shall be available for issuance to nonresidents who have served 33 in the armed forces of the United States on active federal 34 service and who were disabled during the veteran’s military 35 -1- HF 885 (2) 91 sb/js/md 1/ 2
H.F. 885 service or who are serving in the armed forces of the United 1 States on active federal service and have been disabled during 2 military service to enable the disabled person to participate 3 in a hunt that is conducted by an organization that conducts 4 hunting experiences in this state for disabled persons.
