  1  1    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  724.26A  Sale or transfer of large
  1  2 capacity ammunition feeding devices ==== penalty.
  1  3    1.  For purposes of this section, a "large ammunition feeding
  1  4 device" means a magazine, belt, drum, or similar device that has
  1  5 a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to
  1  6 accept, more than ten rounds of ammunition.
  1  7    2.  A person who sells or transfers any large capacity
  1  8 ammunition feeding device commits an aggravated misdemeanor.
  1  9    Sec. 2.  EFFECTIVE UPON ENACTMENT.  This Act, being deemed of
  1 10 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
  1 11    Sec. 3.  APPLICABILITY.  This Act applies to any large
  1 12 capacity ammunition feeding device sold or transferred on or
  1 13 after the effective date of this Act.
  1 14                           EXPLANATION
  1 15 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1 16 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 17    This bill prohibits the sale or transfer of large capacity
  1 18 ammunition feeding devices, provides a penalty, and includes
  1 19 effective date and applicability provisions.
  1 20    The bill provides that a person who sells or transfers any
  1 21 large capacity ammunition feeding device commits an aggravated
  1 22 misdemeanor, punishable by confinement for no more than two
  1 23 years and a fine of at least $625 but not more than $6,250.
  1 24 Under the bill, a "large ammunition feeding device" means a
  1 25 magazine, belt, drum, or similar device that has a capacity of,
  1 26 or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more
  1 27 than 10 rounds of ammunition.
  1 28    The bill takes effect upon enactment and applies to any large
  1 29 capacity ammunition feeding device sold or transferred on or
  1 30 after the effective date.
