MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Indiana law
enforcement officer Lieutenant James Loftin on receiving
national honors.
Whereas, Marion City Police Department Lieutenant James
Loftin participated in the National Police Shooting
Championships, sponsored by the National Rifle Association;
Whereas, Lieutenant Loftin and two other Indiana officers
continued a winning streak at the National Rifle Association
event in Albuquerque, New Mexico;
Whereas, Lieutenant Loftin competed in the National
Marksmen Division, and excelled in his division, earning top
honors in each of the open, service, and distinguished classes;
Whereas, The three officers representing Indiana law
enforcement won three of eight total national titles;
Whereas, During the four-day event the policemen fired more than 580 rounds, using eight different types of firearms, in events that included shooting handguns at targets 50 yards away; and
SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate congratulates Lieutenant James
Loftin on receiving national honors.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to
transmit a copy of this Resolution to Lieutenant James Loftin.
