| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 331

| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 331, AS AMENDED, by | ||||||
| 3 | replacing everything after the enacting clause with the | ||||||
| 4 | following:
| ||||||
| 5 | "Section 1. Short title; references to Act. This Act may be | ||||||
| 6 | cited as the Expressway Camera Act. | ||||||
| 7 | References to Act. This Act may be referred to as the | ||||||
| 8 | Tamara Clayton Expressway Camera Act.
| ||||||
| 9 | Section 5. Camera program. | ||||||
| 10 | (a) The Illinois State Police, the Illinois Department of
| ||||||
| 11 | Transportation, and the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority
| ||||||
| 12 | shall work together to conduct a program to increase the amount
| ||||||
| 13 | of cameras along expressways in Cook County. | ||||||
| 14 | (b) Images from the cameras may be used by any municipal | ||||||
| 15 | police department, county sheriff's office, State Police | ||||||
| 16 | officer, or other law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | the expressway in Cook County in the investigation of any | ||||||
| 2 | offense involving the use of a firearm and to detect expressway | ||||||
| 3 | hazards. Images from the cameras shall not be used to enforce | ||||||
| 4 | petty offenses. | ||||||
| 5 | (c) Subject to appropriation, any funds needed to conduct | ||||||
| 6 | the program for use on expressways under the jurisdiction of | ||||||
| 7 | the Department of Transportation shall be taken from the Road | ||||||
| 8 | Fund. | ||||||
| 9 | (d) As used in this Section, "expressway" has the meaning | ||||||
| 10 | provided in Section 1-119.3 of the Illinois Vehicle Code.
| ||||||
| 11 | Section 90. Repeal. This Act is repealed on July 1, 2023.".
