1		SENATE RESOLUTION
2		WHEREAS, Ingersoll Scout Reservation near London Mills
3		celebrates the 50th Anniversary since its opening by the W. D.
4		Boyce Council of the Boy Scouts of America; and
5		WHEREAS, Ingersoll Scout Reservation, initially named
6		Wilderness Camp, was officially renamed in 1973 to posthumously
7		honor William Parlin Ingersoll, who donated the land; and
8		WHEREAS, Ingersoll Scout Reservation opened in mid-June of
9		1965 to Boy Scouts throughout Central Illinois; and
10		WHEREAS, Since Ingersoll Scout Reservation's opening, an
11		estimated 10 million dollars has been invested in improvements
12		to the facilities, with large portions of the improvements
13		accomplished by outstanding volunteer services and donations
14		from businesses, Boy Scout supporters and others within the
15		communities of the W.D. Boyce Council; and
16		WHEREAS, Since Ingersoll Scout Reservation's opening, an
17		estimated 40,000 Boy Scouts have enjoyed this outstanding
18		Central Illinois treasure, and it has been staffed by an
19		estimated 1,500 Camp Counselors; and
20		WHEREAS, Ingersoll Scout Reservation has received National

1		Accreditation almost every year since its opening; and
2		WHEREAS, Ingersoll Scout Reservation's camp staff have
3		gone on to become executives within Boy Scout Councils and Boy
4		Scout Camp Rangers, members of the Airborne Rangers and other
5		units within the military, police departments, and fire
6		departments, professors at colleges and universities, local
7		civic leaders, and members of clergy; the outstanding camp
8		counselors throughout the years have always treasured their
9		time as Ingersoll Scout Reservation Staff and have continued to
10		bring pride to the W.D. Boyce Council of the Boy Scouts of
11		America by excelling in their careers throughout all fields of
12		employment; therefore, be it
13		RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14		ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare July 18,
15		2015 as "Ingersoll Scout Reservation Day" in the State of
16		Illinois; and be it further
17		RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18		presented to the Ingersoll Scout Reservation as a symbol of our
19		admiration and respect.
