SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Sharon Lynn Harrison of Caseyville, who
4passed away on June 16, 2015; and
5 WHEREAS, Sharon Harrison was born in Ames, Iowa on October
631, 1938 to Kenneth and Leonora (nee Cronin) Phillips; she
7graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science
8in Home Economics; she married Moses W. Harrison, II in
9Collinsville on December 30, 1961; and
10 WHEREAS, Sharon Harrison was a field home economist with
11the Pet Milk Company in St. Louis, Missouri, where she appeared
12live on television and radio stations around the nation, wrote
13educational materials for schools, gave educational seminars
14for home economics departments of many colleges and
15universities, and did other promotional work for the company;
16during that time, she was active in the American Home Economics
17Association (now the Association of Family and Consumer
18Sciences), Home Economists in Business, and American Women in
19Radio and Television; in 1962, she was featured in the magazine
20"Practical Home Economics" and appeared on the cover; she
21served as speaker for many different local civic, educational,
22and religious groups and was elected President of the
23Collinsville Panhellenic Association; later, she was a sales

1associate and sewing instructor for Eunice Farmer Fabrics of
2St. Louis; she also coordinated the sewing classes for the
3company sewing school; she and Eunice Farmer co-founded and
4co-owned F-H Enterprises, a small pattern company; she also
5taught dressmaking, tailoring, and ultrasuede classes for
6Belleville Area College, now known as Southwestern Illinois
7College, and was the featured speaker of the American Sewing
8Guild for the Springfield Lincoln Land Chapter in Springfield;
9and
10 WHEREAS, Sharon Harrison was a former member of Christ
11Episcopal Church in Collinsville, where she was a member of the
12vestry and a licensed Lay Reader; she was a member of St.
13Michael's Episcopal Church in O'Fallon and a former member of
14the Association of Wives of Illinois Lawyers; she was an active
15participant in her husband's election campaigns; and
16 WHEREAS, Sharon Harrison was preceded in death by her
17husband of 51 years, Moses; her son, Luke W. Harrison; and her
18parents; and
19 WHEREAS, Sharon Harrison is survived by her son, Clarence
20W. Harrison, and his wife, Carol, and their daughters, Lauren
21and Rachel; her grandchildren, Sarah and Jacob and their
22mother, Mary Harrison; and many other nieces, nephews, other
23relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Sharon Lynn Harrison, and extend our sincere condolences to her
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
5further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Sharon Harrison as an expression of
8our deepest sympathy.
