A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

Relating to ammunition.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 134, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part I to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§134-  Restriction on sale of ammunition.  (a)  It shall be unlawful for any person, including a licensed manufacturer, licensed importer, or licensed dealer, to sell or distribute any ammunition to a person unless the person provides proof that the firearm for which the ammunition is to be used has been registered pursuant to this part; provided that a licensed dealer may sell ammunition for a firearm at the time of the lawful sale of that firearm.

     (b)  Any person who violates this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
