Section 403.9285, Florida Statutes, is created 6 to read: 7 403.9285 Fluoridation program.— 8 (1) As used in the section, the term: 9 (a) “Department” means the Department of Agriculture and 10 Consumer Services. 11 (b) “Underserved area” means a geographic area with health 12 care resources that are insufficient to meet the needs of the 13 service population. The term includes medically underserved 14 areas as defined in s. 381.4019. 15 (2) The department shall develop a program to provide 16 limited dental and oral hygiene services to residents of 17 underserved areas in this state. 18 (3)(a) The program must include community-centered events 19 and educational opportunities focusing on oral hygiene 20 instruction. 21 (b) The program shall provide residents of underserved 22 areas access to fluoride products, including fluoride 23 toothpaste, fluoride tablets, and other fluoridated oral health 24 products. 25 (4) The department, in consultation with the Department of 26 Health, shall adopt rules requiring any public water system that 27 does not provide water fluoridation or has elected to stop 28 providing water fluoridation services to notify residents 29 serviced by such system that water fluoridation services are not 30 being provided. 31 32 ================= T I T L E A M E N D M E N T ================ 33 And the title is amended as follows: 34 Between lines 183 and 184 35 insert: 36 creating s. 403.9285, F.S.; defining the terms 37 “department” and “underserved area”; requiring the 38 department to create a program to provide limited 39 dental and oral hygiene services to certain areas; 40 providing requirements for the program; requiring the 41 department, in consultation with the Department of 42 Health, to adopt certain rules;
