    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the use of artificial intelligence
    3         to detect firearms; creating s. 790.34, F.S.;
    4         prohibiting the use of artificial intelligence to
    5         detect firearms in public areas; providing criminal
    6         penalties; providing exceptions; providing an
    7         effective date.

    9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   10  
   11         Section 1. Section 790.34, Florida Statutes, is created to
   12  read:
   13         790.34 Prohibited use of artificial intelligence to detect
   14  firearms in public areas; penalties; exceptions.—
   15         (1) Artificial intelligence may not be used, including, but
   16  not limited to, in conjunction with any camera, video recording,
   17  or live-streaming device, to detect firearms in public areas.
   18         (2) A person who violates this section commits a
   19  misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s.
   20  775.082 or s. 775.083.
   21         (3) This section does not apply to:
   22         (a) The grounds or facilities of a school as defined in s.
   23  790.115.
   24         (b) Any location listed in s. 790.06(12)(a).
   25         Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 2025.
