AN ACT CONCERNING LIABILITY WITH RESPECT TO ASSAULT WEAPONS AND FIREARMS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to provide civil and criminal liability for any property damage or personal injury that results from (1) a person's failure to report the loss or theft of an assault weapon or other firearm pursuant to section 53-202g of the general statutes; or (2) a person's act of providing access to an assault weapon or firearm, or transferring an assault weapon or firearm, to a person knowing such person is ineligible to possess such assault weapon or firearm.
Statement of Purpose:
To provide specific civil and criminal liability for property damage or personal injury that results from failure to report a lost or stolen assault weapon or other firearm or illegal transfer of an assault weapon or other firearm.
