This thread will be updated on a regular basis when new bills come in for Massachusetts .

Note: We will only post legislation we feel is negative or positive, those new bills which don't actually effect your rights will not be included but you can always find them on the state legislation page.

Starting off:

S1283 would repeal the ban on stun guns

S1287 would prohibit firearm dealers from selling more than 15 firearms to a person in a year

S1298 would add a 4.75% sales tax on all firearms and ammunition to fund a firearm violence prevention trust fund

S1302 would increase penalties for possessing an assault weapon or large capacity magazine

S1309 would prohibit the confiscation of lawfully owned firearms during a state of emergency

S1317 would legalize owning suppressors

S1318 would drop firearm license fees by more than half

S1319 would remove the prohibition for having a loaded firearm in recreational vehicles as long as the person has a permit

S1320 would make non-resident licenses good for 6 years

S1321 would require any business that sells ammunition to anyone within the state to be licensed. This includes businesses that sell over the internet

S1324 would remove language about revocation of a firearm license for not reporting a change of address

S1338 would drop the fee for firearm licenses by more then half

S1339 would make non-resident licenses good for 6 years

S1340 would legalize owning suppressors

S1365 would make anyone that bought, sold or owned a firearm prior to July 21, 2016 that is now consider an assault weapon (per the Attorney General's rule) exempt from those laws

S839 would make it illegal to fire a weapon at a dwelling

S973 would make it illegal to carry a firearm in a courthouse

H1249 would legalize electronic stun guns

H1265 would allow a very narrow list of non-residents to apply for a carry license

H1278 would reduce firearm license fees for senior citizens using some crazy math

H1280 is an attempt to enforce the attorney general's new assault weapon list

H1281 is an attempt to outlaw the ownership of all high capacity mags

H1283 is a universal background check bill

H1285 is an attempt to roll back the attorney general's new assault weapon definitions

H1290 would remove revocation language from law regarding license and not reporting a change of address

H1296 is a preemption of local firearm regulations bill

H1309 would remove the prohibition of loaded firearm in RVs

H1315 would clarify non-residents may transport unloaded firearms from any place where it is legal to have them to another

H763 would make it legal to own suppressors

H789 would make it legal to own suppressors

H908 would strengthen penalties for firing a weapon at a dwelling

New for Mass:

H2328 would prohibit carrying of firearms in courthouses

H2495 would require all gun owners to have liability insurance

H2507 would remove language in regards to license to remove the ability to restrict them in certain ways

H2508 would exempt veterans from renewal fees for carry permits

H2510 would create a commission to study gun free zones in an effort to eliminate them

H3081 would create 'extreme risk protection orders' that would allow authorities to seize a person's firearms and ammunition

H3254 is in response to the attorney general's reclassification of some firearms as assault weapons and it would require at least 3 public hearings before any such reclassification could happen

H3271 would create a smart gun task force

H3453 is a report suggesting MA has a private firearm sale loophole and recommends universal background checks

S2063 would prohibit anyone from buying more than one firearm or high capacity magazine in a 30 day period, it would also require all sales to go through a dealer.

H3578 would make anyone that fails to report a lost or stolen firearm civilly liable if the firearm is used during the commission of a crime

H3609 would outlaw imitation firearms

H3610 would create 'extreme risk' protection orders very similar to California law

H3611 would create a voluntary prohibited list. Those checking themselves into a mental facility would be given a form to fill out. It would also make it that any dealer that sells to anyone on the list would lose their license

H2485 would clarify that manufacturers and dealers of inert ammunition components are not required to be licensed by the state and that these items can be shipped to customers in MA from other states

S2407 would prohibit the state from any investment in firearm or ammunition companies

H4402 would require the state to pull all pension investments that involve firearms

H4899 would outlaw making firearms without getting a serial number from the state and would outlaw 3D printed guns
