AN ACT REQUIRING THE SAFE STORAGE OF FIREARMS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to require persons owning firearms to store unloaded firearms with a trigger locking device installed, with ammunition being stored separately, or store loaded firearms in a gun safe that, at a minimum, is made with ten-gauge steel and has an Underwriters Laboratories "Residential Security Container" rating, provided nothing herein shall prevent the owner of such firearm from keeping such firearm on his or her person.

Statement of Purpose:

To require the safe storage of firearms.
