Kingsbury FWA Shooting Range - LaPorte, IN 46350

Kingsbury FWA Shooting Range is a very family friendly range, run by ex-military range masters who are very knowledgeable, friendly, and safety oriented. They call cease fire every 10 to 15 minutes so that shooters can safely head down range to check and change out targets. They have a strict safety protocol to follow during cease fire, and promote a general feeling of ease at the range. I would not worry about anybody acting a fool or "cowboying" with the range master present. They have 10 booths with tables dedicated to 50 yard range, 4 dedicated to 100 yard range, and 18 lanes ranging from 7 to 25 yard range for handguns. They also have an archery range and a clay pigeon/shotgunner range. The prices are very fair ($4 for the entire day for 18 and older, $2 for the entire day for those younger than 18 who must be accompanied by an adult) and the range masters on duty are very amicable and friendly, if a bit business-oriented. They take their jobs and public safety very seriously. The surrounding area in the FWA is a favorite hunting and fishing spot of mine, well maintained and peaceful, with open grasslands for deer and turkey hunting as well as the Kankakee River for sport fishing. The NRA maintains a regular presence, so it is important to be above board so to speak with permits and licensing requirements. I would highly recommend this range as a safe and fun alternative to indoor ranges in the area which tend to be much more expensive, and the general atmosphere is much more user friendly than many indoor ranges I've been to.
