This thread will be updated on a regular basis when new bills come in for Virginia.

Note: We will only post legislation we feel is negative or positive, those new bills which don't actually effect your rights will not be included but you can always find them on the state legislation page.

HB41 would ban bump fire stocks, trigger cranks or any other device that increases the rate of fire of a firearm

HB43 is a lost or stolen bill

SB1 would ban bump fire stocks, trigger cranks or any other device that increases the rate of fire of a firearm

SB48 is a constitutional carry bill

SB5 is a 'universal background check' bill that includes the rental of firearms

HB68 would allow local governments to prohibit firearms in libraries

SB63 would allow local governments to outlaw carrying of firearms at demonstrations, parades, protests etc

HB91 would require the mandatory training for a carry permit to be in-person training only

SB113 would outlaw any mechanical device that would increase the rate of fire of a firearm including bump stocks and trigger crank

HB140 would make all private transfers at gun shows be required to go through a background check

SB119 would require all lost and stolen firearms to be reported within 24 hours of the discover

SB145 would require background checks for any firearm sold by a 'merchant' and a customer

SB155 would allow local governments to prohibit firearms at council meetings

SB209 would prevent out of state law enforcement from accessing the concealed carry database information

HB353 would limit handgun sales to 1 every thirty days unless the person has passed an enhanced background check

HB603 would increase the cost of a non-resident carry permit to $150

HB602 would eliminate the online courses for concealed carry permits and require in person classes

HB597 would outlaw any mechanical device that would increase the rate of fire of a semi-auto firearm

HB596 is a high capacity magazine ban

HB498 would repeal the language whereby the state accepts all permits from all states

SB385 would limit handgun sales to 1 every 30 days

SB360 would give local government the ability to prohibit firearms at permitted events

SB351 would prohibit employers from prohibiting employees to leave their firearm in their locked vehicle and would grant them immunity from civil actions for them

SB350 would make concealed carry permits good for 15 years

SB288 would require anyone that has lost or had a firearm stolen to report it to the police within 24 hours

SB276 would basically create extreme risk protection orders whereby firearms could be seized

HB949 would allow state police up to 5 days to reply to a firearm background check

HB928 would ban carrying firearms in any state building

HB927 is an assault weapon ban

HB890 would allow people that have a concealed carry license to carry switchblades

HB857 would prohibit landlords from banning tenants owning firearms

HB819 would ban bumpstocks and any other mechanical device that accelerates the rate of fire of a semi-auto firearm

HB817 would require the state supreme court to provide guidance documents to judges for the restoration of firearm rights

HB814 would allow local governments to prohibit firearms within 1000 feet of protests, parades and other public events

HB721 is a universal background check bill

HB720 would ban anyone convicted of simple assault from owning a firearm

HB717 would require all gun show sales of firearms to have a background check

HB707 would outlaw leaving a firearm anywhere a child could access it (removes the word recklessly)

HB681 would require state police to issue non-resident carry permits within 45 days of receiving the application provided the person is not prohibited

HB651 would require anyone under an order of protection, even preliminary ones, to surrender their concealed carry permit and firearms

HB650 would prohibit anyone that doesn't have an enhanced carry permit from buying more than one handgun during a 30 day period

HB648 would require any dealer that sells more than one gun during a single transaction to report the sale to the state police

SB493 would prohibit colleges from making rules that would prohibit concealed carry holders from carrying on campus

SB447 would require a background check any time a firearm is sold, traded or rented

SB434 would allow some felons restoration of firearm rights by the court system

SB433 would require anyone that has had a firearm stolen or lost to report it within 24 hours

SB432 would require background checks on all firearms sold by gun show vendors

SB412 would require all firearm sales in the state to get a background check

SB405 is another universal background check bill

HB977 would require a background check any time a firearm is sold, traded or rented

HB1255 is a constitutional carry bill

HB1145 is a high capacity magazine ban bill

HB1143 would require anyone wanting to sell or trade a handgun to a non-licensed dealer to get a background check or to apply for a handgun transfer permit

HB1052 would allow local governments to prohibit carrying firearms at marches, protests and other types of gatherings

HB1019 would allow local governments to prohibit carrying firearms at public events that require a permit

HB1009 would add several cities to the list of cities where carrying certain firearms in public is prohibited

SB794 is a 10 round high capacity magazine ban bill

SB748 would require the state supreme court to give guidance to the lower courts for restoring a convicted felon's firearm rights

SB742 is another 10 round high capacity magazine ban but this one makes it a class 6 felony to sell or posses them

SB732 would make those convicted of a list of misdemeanor crimes prohibited from owning fireams

SB689 would allow people whose voting place prohibits firearms to cast an absentee ballot

SB676 would outlaw bump fire stocks and trigger cranks

SB669 would make anyone who was involuntarily committed for mental health care OR who agrees to voluntarily commitment a prohibited person

SB668 would repeal the state's preemption laws

SB665 would add another city, and another county to the list of places where it is prohibited to carry a firearm with more than a 20 round capacity

SB641 would make anyone that is voluntarily committed for mental health reasons a prohibited person

SB596 would give free firearms training to victims of domestic abuse

SB595 would allow anyone under the protection of a court order and who is not otherwise prohibited to carry a firearm while they wait for their carry permit

SB811 would require anyone who is put under a protection to surrender their firearms to local police within 24 hours

HR31 would prohibit any one from carrying a firearm in the house gallery staring one hour before a session and running until one hour after a session is ended
