Yesterday a Texas House committee approved legislation that would allow handguns to be carried, concealed or in a holster, without a state issued license.

Approval came on a 6-2 party line vote even though all six Republicans voting in favor of House Bill 1911 did so despite reservations, one over concerns that unlicensed carry could hinder police officers, and five because they believed the bill didn't go far enough to remove restrictions on gun owners.

The bill now moves to the House Floor for a vote. While the bill is not perfect it goes a long way to restoring Texas residents constitutional rights.

Please contact your House representative and ask them to support the bill. If possible call them and then follow up that call with an email.

You can find your legislator's contact information on our contact your state legislator page and you can email them directly by clicking on the link at the top of the bill's page that says 'contact your reps'.
